Keagan wins Big Brother Stargame Show!

Its official! Africa has decided that the crown for this year’s edition of Big Brother Stargame show goes to 22-year-old intern manager Keagan.

The announcement was made few minutes ago by regular host, IK Osakioduwa during the grand finale of the 91 day show. Keagan became winner after  winning for himself a huge chunk of the total votes ahead of the five other finalists including  Lady May, Wati, Prezzo, Talia and Kyle.

The tension was on an all-time high as IK announced Wati as 6th, Kylie 5th, Talia 4th, Lady May 3rd, leaving Prezzo and Keagan as top finalists.

The grand finale proved to be worth the preparations as musicians D’banj, Naeto C, Sarkodi, Navio and MC Khuli Chana treated the audience to exciting performances in preparation for the tension typical of a Big Brother Africa’s grand finale.

The tension came as soon as the music ended and regular host, I.K made to unveil the winner, inviting all the contestants to stand on a line after which he announced who the winner was.

Keagan will now henceforth enjoy the title of BBA winner 2012 along with a mouth-watering sum of $ 300, 000, cash prize for the show.

Big Brother Stargame kicked off on Sunday, May 6 2012 with 35 housemates who were initially divided into the Upville and Downville houses. Gradually, the number reduced till the final six, out of which the winner emerged.

The annual show is currently in its seventh edition and has been won in the past by Nigerians, Kevin Chuwang Pam, Uti Nwachukwu, Karen Igho.

Less than a day till Biggie announces the winner of the 91-day Big Brother Stargame, some housemates are already taking daring steps .

Still, even as Ross builds his stock portfolio brick by brick, he’s comfortable and (more importantly) sincere enough to revisit his past with clarity. Organizers of the annual award ceremony celebrating Nigerians under the age of 30, The Future Awards, have officially launched its seventh season.

On Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Koral Reef, Ikoyi, the media launch of the awards’ 7th season took place, and was well attended by the media, past winners and judges of the awards.

Past winners: beautician Tara Durotoye, fashion pundit Uche Nnaji, and writer Tolu Ogunlesi all spoke on the impact and influence of the award.

This year’s theme is The Future Awards for Leaders, Entrepreneurs and Innovators -‘Tear down these walls! and according to the executive director of The Future Project, Chude Jideonwo, ‘The Future Awards led the charge, presenting over 1000 Positive Role Models (especially outside of entertainment) to young Nigerians and Africans over the past years, we have succeeded in establishing faith in country amongst blocs of young people, fundamentally altered for good the way young Nigerians are viewed as leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs’.

The event was anchored by designer and editor, fashion designer Ohimai Atafo, who heads the award’s Central Working Committee. ‘The season starts immediately’, he said. ‘We begin the town hall meetings to the six geo-political zones; we will also have special town hall meetings to spotlight innovation in specific fields, there will of course be the Nominees Reception for Charity, all leading to the awards in August – we are excited!’

A total of 21 award categories will be featured in this year’s event, broken into seven broad sections, which include Change, Creativity, Innovation, Entertainment, Entrepreneurship, Music and The Ultimate Prize. The Awards will hold on August 26, 2012. Nominations are now on via

The Future Awards ‘Nominees Reception’ holds August 4

As a build up to the seventh edition of The Future Awards this year,the Central Working Committee has announced a ‘Nominees Reception’ holding this Saturday, August 4, 2012.

The main purpose of the event according to organizers is to celebrate the 168 leaders, innovators, change-makers and entrepreneurs nominated for this edition.

‘We are impressed with the people nominated in all categories this season. Bringing them together in a gathering to honour and show them to the world excites us,’ Ohimai Atafo, chairman of the Central Working Committee says.

‘Obviously only one person emerges in each category but they are all achievers’, he adds

The reception which will take place at the Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos will see nominees inducted into ‘The Future Alumni Network’, organizers add.

Organisers say the reception will also be an opportunity to raise money for the Down Syndrome Foundation of Nigeria, a non-profit organisation which seeks to provide care for children with Down syndrome.

Music performance will come from the likes of fast rising singer Praiz and EME’s Niyola and Skales. The event will be anchored by  Uti Nwachukwu.

Lagos Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola spent last night chilling with some of the entertainers who supported him during the last gubernatorial elections.

We’ve just been told reliably, that the beloved governor and his wife hosted the duo of Peter and Paul Okoye (Psquare), Aki and Paw Paw, 9ice, Darey and Princess at the state house in Marina, Lagos. Other guests include comedian Tee A, Basketmouth and Weird MC.

Psquare’s brother-manager Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye and superstar actress Funke Akindele were also in attendance.

‘It was not a formal event’ a source tells us. ‘He told them he just wanted to get together and appreciate some of his friends in the entertainment sector’.

With Canapes and drinks, and plenty of banter, the party spent several hours together, reflecting on the last elections, the state of the nation, entertainment matters, and individual projects.

An insider tells us the invited artistes were some of the key participants in ‘My City Rocks’; one of the 2011 pre-election concerts in support for the governor.

Pop Twin stars Psquare today, Thursday, August 2, 2012 laid their mother Josephine Okoye to rest at her Ifite-Dunu house, Akwa Village, Anambra State.

The burial ceremony was preceded by a  church service at St.. Gabriel Catholic Church after a lying-in-state which took place at Umunachi, Umudioka Village, Anambra State.

Also in attendance were the twins’ father, elder brother Jude Okoye and other siblings. Square Records’ act May D was also present.

'The Addams Family' musical provides perfectly ooky entertainment opening night

Torture racks, dark truth serums and a not-so-normal family dinner: ingredients for a creepy and kooky night at the Benedum Center with the “The Addams Family” musical. Sadly, there were no gruesome death scenes or an unhappy ending; however, there was plenty of slapstick comedy, well-timed humor and hilarious musical numbers wrapped into 2.5 hours of creepy and ooky entertainment with our favorite dark and scary family.
The show opened last night for the Pittsburgh premiere at the Benedum Center and it did not disappoint fans who came for a great laugh. Led on stage by Douglas Sills and Sara Gettelfinger as one of the most beloved goth couples in history, this musical is a must see production for fans.

Based on the iconic Charles Addams characters, the show follows the not-so-normal family as they learn that little Wednesday wants to marry a “normal” boy. Of course, this news doesn’t float well with her father, who first learns of the engagement but has been forbidden to tell his beloved Morticia. Enter the typical father-wife-daughter conundrum, poor Gomez is “trapped” (also the name of my favorite song of the night).

Nigerians have authored many influential works of post-colonial literature in the English language. World renowned writers are Wole Soyinka, the first African Nobel Laureate in Literature, and Chinua Achebe, best known for the novel, Things Fall Apart.

eLDee set for North American tour

Lanre ‘eLDee’ Dabiri is embarking on a North American tour to promote his recently released ‘Undeniable’ album.

Tagged the ‘Undeniable Club Tour’, the Trybe Records boss will alongside his label mates – K9, Sojay, and recently signed Eva, Aramide and Rukus will perform at the yet-to-be disclosed venues.

We’re told the Trybe crew plan to kick start the series of performances in Toronto.

The Canadian leg of the Undeniable tour will stop in 5 cities which include Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg.

Minaj's concert shows she has room to grow

Nicki Minaj may be one of the hottest things on the music scene today, but her live show could still use some heat.
Minaj, on her first headlining tour, performed a sold-out show at the Peabody Opera House Tuesday night and showed she still has room to grow in her live show.
She barely managed to surpass her opening slot for Lil Wayne last year at Scottrade Center.
Minaj, to her credit the only female rapper on top of a major tour today, burst out in the middle of that Lil Wayne set for some electrifying rawness that was unforgettable. But now, after ascending to the height of her craft and fully crossing over from urban to pop audiences, she seems defanged.
The colorfully cartoonish Minaj now has the dicey task of catering to both halves of her fan base, though her concert here brought out what looked more like Z107.7 than Hot 104.1.
Despite Minaj's frequent wig and costumes changes, her spectacle of a show felt petite. She went back and forth between hip-hop fare such as "Roman's Revenge," "Did It On 'Em," and "I Am Your Leader" and pop-dance ditties such as "Starships," "Pound the Alarm" and "Super Bass." She struck a fair balance between the two and also included songs "Moment 4 Life" and "Come on a Cone."
The 80-minute show moved quickly as Minaj, accompanied by a hype man, male and female dancers and occasional pre-recorded vocals, breezed through songs, sometimes only performing a couple of verses.
She did well in not only performing a good rundown of her hits from her albums "Pink Friday" and "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" but also budding cuts from the releases.
For fans who followed her before she was big, she offered popular mixtape selections such as "I Get Crazy" and "Itty Bitty Piggy." She said her St. Louis fans knew the words to some of the mixtape songs better than she did, and claimed she'd never performed some of these songs in other cities.
Several female fans joined her on stage for "Bedrock," while rapper 2 Chainz performed with her for their "Beez in the Trap." "My Chick Bad" and "Bottoms Up" showcased her verses on others' hits, Ludacris and Trey Songz, respectively, though her bit on Kanye West's "Monster" somehow didn't make the cut.
2 Chainz's opening set was a bit of a mess. The thing about 2 Chainz is he wasn't much to listen to when he was known under the name Tity Boi, and while changing his name to 2 Chainz has given him a popularity he never had before, it doesn't change who he is.
His set included "Spend It," "Got One," "No Lie," "Super Freak," "Riot" and his verse from Kanye West's "Mercy." His album "Based on a T.R.U. Story" will be released soon.
